Full Description
The primary purpose for Eco-House Light Linseed Primer Oil is its use as a wood conditioner prior to finish treatments with a wax or a resin & oil finish. It helps coloured oil-based stains to penetrate the wood evenly, enhances the look of the wood grain and is more economical when saturating porous wood for optimal protection. #261 Light Linseed Oil is easy to apply and is non-toxic and food-safe after drying for 72 hours. Highly recommended for butcher block conditioning.
WHERE TO USE IT
Outdoors:
For priming and conditioning of absorbent surfaces of wood, stone, brick or clay. Requires a final weather-resistant finish coating.
Indoors :
Same as outdoors, but may also be used as a more economical finish on decorative low-use surfaces, such as furniture, ceilings, wainscoting and other architectural woodwork, which is not frequently exposed to moisture. If used on its own, apply 2-3 coats as desired.
We recommend a finish coat with # 263 Tree Resin & Oil Wood Finish or # 315 Liquid Beeswax Finish.
INGREDIENTS
Light purified linseed oil, # 115 Eco-House Citrus Thinner, linseed standoil, lead-free dryers (cobalt & zirconium octoates), herbal essential oils.
COLOURS
clear transparent to slightly honey-toned ( Gardner 3-4 ).
May be tinted with suitable stain paste or powdered pigments.
COVERAGE
90-140 sq ft per litre (quart) depending on absorbency rate of the surface.
THINNING & CLEAN UP
The product is ready for use and does not require any thinning. Use # 115 Eco-House Citrus Thinner for clean-up.
TECHNICAL PROPERTIES
Deep penetrating linseed oil based primer. It creates an elastic and breathable protective coating. Enriches the natural wood grain and dries to a silky finish. Does not blister or peel. Water-repellent, but not permanently water-resistant.
Reduces the tendency for “green” dimensional lumber to crack by slowing, but not inhibiting the drying process.
APPLICATION
Apply liberally by brush, dipping or spraying to achieve thorough saturation. Wipe off unpenetrated primer after approx. 20 – 30 minutes with a cotton cloth. Easy to refinish by applying additional coats.
